running a web server on a PDA, plus scripting language

Well you said it was ok to talk about other stuff, Dr. Matt! :) So here's the plan - an all in one little device that school students can walk around with, grab environmental data, take a photo, get the GPS position, and load this all into a web form on their small device (PDA I am presuming) to be ...

agreed

Yup, I agree with you James, that's how I'd like to see it working - being able to just put in default text, e.g. a sequential number, and then be able to edit later.

cheers

timestamps would be ace

I'll second hockeyshooter's request, it would be great if selecting a GPS point to mark on the map automatically time/datestamps it. That would be very useful dr. matt

So what do you do when GPS isn't accurate enough?

So what do you do when you want to map an area and GPS isn't good enough? Any ideas, pointers? I know GPS is good to something like 5-10 metres accuracy, but what happens if I want to get better than that? I have a university project with handheld computers and we'd like secondary school students to...

loading newer version of GPSMap over old version

Hi all, sorry, newbie question. I've got v1.4 loaded om my Fujitsu- Siemens Loox t830 (Windows Mobile 5.0) and I am thinking of uploading v1.5. Does it just load over the top of v1.4, or do I need to delete v.14 first, or something else?

sorry for the newbie question and thanks in advance

what GPS unit?

Hi Mike what GPS unit do you have? I am running GPSMap on a Fujistu-Siemens Loox T830 with its built in GPS. I've been loaned a QTEK 9100 and I was wondering about checking out buying a GPS unit for it. Any recommendations? (in case you're wondering about the multiple PDAs and whether I have more mo...

One-touch waypoint

Hi Matt Love the icons running along the bottom of the screen. Any chance in the future of a similar big happy icon for adding a waypoint where I am standing? So somebody can just hit the button and it adds a waypoint with a default name right there? I'm working on a project with secondary school st...

Cheers Matt!

any chance of export as XML in the future as well, that would be a great format... KML (Google Maps) is very similar I think, is that so? (excuse the newbie question)

Exporting data from GPSMap?

Hi all

can I export .trl format trails into other data formats? Ideally I'd like to be able to write to a plain text file, comma /tab separated, something like that.

cheers!
