Re: Can I easily use my existing OS digital maps?

Are you asking if GPSMap-OS will be available on Android? If so I can't really answer that at the moment as I know very little about the Android operating system, but there's always the possibility. Unfortunately I also have no knowledge of the Anquet maps format, so I don't know if your investment ...

New GPSMap releases at last!

It's been a long time coming (2 years!), but a new version of GPSMap-OS is now available! Notable features in this release: ⋅ New GPS info dialog to show position, course and speed in nice friendly big letters (View->GPS Info). ⋅ Indpendent export and import of map points to G...

Re: Auto load of map

Unfortunately you have no chance of coding for Windows Mobile on a Mac.. However I will ensure I put the auto-load of last map option in the next release of GPSMap. A new release is long overdue; I have made several improvements but not had time to finish/polish them yet. More sticky note reminders ...

Re: Which Device Do You Use GPSMap OS on ???

Yes you are right, currently GPSMap is not VGA resolution aware; that means on a VGA device it displays "pixel doubled". So as you have correctly observed, when you set the zoom level to 50% on a VGA device you see the map at its true dot-for-dot pixel resolution. A future release may supp...

Sounds like you're doing some fine work Ludo. To answer your question GPSMap-OS was created first, and then GPSGO when I started to travel to places like France and wanted to use the local maps. GPSMap uses a simpler calibration algorithm (just 2 points because it only works on the square British Na...

GPSGO source

Sorry I don't have time to answer fully at the moment (although jolly47roger has already done a great job), but for starters here's a link to the source for GPSGO 0.92 beta (slightly newer than the version currently available for download). http://www.craporola.com/GPSGO0.92b_eVC4_Wo...

GPSMap-OS map calibration file (.mcd) format

Interested in writing code to automatically generate the map calibration file for use with GPSMap-OS so you don't have to enter calibration points manually? The following info should help... When loading a map image (eg. MyMap.jpg) GPSMap automatically looks for a file in the same location as the im...

Trail format converter

:) We have our first community contributed software program, a little app to convert GPSMap/GO TRL files to and from Maptech TXF format. Well done and a big thank you to jolly47roger for this.

See this post for more details.

Hi Martyn, and thanks indeed for the praise! Your feature suggestions are welcome, and it's good to hear from someone with a specific use in mind for the program. The idea of being able to graphically display and individually edit the calibration points has been raised in the past, and is a good one...

TRL format

Hi Ken, I suspect the bytes you're seeing are a side-effect of me using the built-in MFC serialization routines to write the trail container, which is declared as CList<CPrecisePoint, CPrecisePoint&> where CPrecisePoint is just a class with two double attributes. The format of the resultin...

The main problem here is that you're trying to run an application that is designed only to operate on the full PocketPC operating system, and that includes having a full menu bars rather than just the two hot keys and really wants a touch-screen input device. It's also not designed to run on vanilla...

GPS connection sharing

Hi MarkB, Both WM5 and 6 have a built-in function that allows multiple apps to share the connection to a single GPS receiver. It does this by letting you map a "virtual" port (COMx or GPDx) to the "real" port your receiver hardware uses. The settings dialog for doing this is a bi...

Default map folders

Hi MarkB, welcome to the craporola community! The latest release of GPSMap-OS defaults to looking for map images in any folders called "GPSMap Maps", and similarly GPSGO looks first in "GPSGO Maps". If you create folders with these names (probably best at the top level of your st...

Performance questions

Hi NavMan, I've also recently got a shiny new iPAQ 214 and I of course tested it right away with GPSMap. I was pleased to see it worked perfectly in the VGA mode and also in landscape orientation. Wow. But I also notice the display update and scrolling around the map is, while still perfectly usable...

Hi JCAD, thanks for the feedback, glad you like the program. I will investigate the problems you mention. You'll be happy to know I've already done a couple of the todos for the upcoming release, including the "disable auto power off" option. I've also acquired a new VGA resolution PDA run...
